Review: Rivendell (10316)
I finally got my hands on the Rivendell set for my birthday! Let me tell you… This is my favorite set that I have ever built. First of all, it is beautiful. There is no arguing that. But it is also just so full of fun LotR references. It was honestly hard to stop building the set on some days. It took me probably 15 hours to finish but I was also taking my time because I never wanted it to end. If you really want to improve your experience building this set, listen to the LotR audiobook while you build. 10/10 experience I think I died and went to heaven.
I was so excited each time I got to open a pack with a new minifigure and at the end when you get to place all of the weapons around in the forge area I felt like a little kid again. I absolutely loved the art pieces that are hanging throughout the build and just how elegant they really made so much of this.
They had some unique build aspects such as the chairs being made out of hot dogs and popsicles. It was a little strange but honestly… it worked. I loved the minifigs that were used as statues around the tower and the water that ran through the set. The white decorative pieces just really did it for me too. Like the ones on the gazebo.
The only part that I truly disliked was the roof… oh gosh the roof… those small pieces were pretty tedious but I was able to look past that for how spectacular the rest of the build was.
