New: Viking Village (21343)

Summary

Oh man! I love that they are doing some throwback builds. They really remind me of when I was starting into LEGO as a kid and just a simpler time. This goes right along with the other sets they have recently released like the Lion Castle and the more recent Eldorado Fortress. I am a pretty big fan of the design of this one with the wood-type architecture of the buildings and the smoke coming up from the fire. I love that they have it hanging over the water as a dock sort of build. Just overall a pretty cool looking set.

The set has 2103 pieces and will get you 845 insider points. It comes with 4 minifigs and retails for $130. That breaks down to $0.06 per piece. That is honestly really good, especially compared to the $0.08 per piece for the Eldorado Fortress.

This set becomes available on October 1st 2023

Minifigs

In the Viking Village you get 4 minifigs. There are 2 guys and 2 female vikings with a pretty good asortment of weapons. You’ll get a bow, an axe, and at least a sword from what I have seen and a few cool viking helmets. Nothing really stood out to me too much other than the second figure that has that cool shoulder piece.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The architecture over the water and with all the wood and gold designs is really clean looking

  • The Viking accessories are rad

  • cool little attention to details throughout

  • The tree is done in a new and cool looking way with a little snow cap on top

Cons

  • It's kind of small compared to the other sets we have seen that are similar.

  • Minifigs are pretty forgettable

  • I’m not a fan of how they base pieces are more of an outline. I would have liked to have seen it be a little smoother and just be a rectangle with some details in the water. Maybe have a small ship with it.
