Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter (10327)

OH MY GOSH! I had heard rumors that they were making an ornithopter but I thought that they were fake. I am so excited to tell you all that they were not fake. This set looks incredible! Let’s break it down together!

Summary

This set is honestly a masterpiece. It comes with 8 minifigs, retails for $164.99, and has 1,369 pieces. That breaks down to about $0.12 per piece. The ornithopter looks stunning and when I saw the video release, I was in shock. first of all, there is a lever the will pull the wings into a folded-back position so that, like in the movie, the ornithopter can go into a quick dive. The landing gear can be retracted so that they can have a nice aerodynamic flight without the landing gear hanging around.

Not only do the wings retract, but they can also flap like the ornithopters in the movie! I am guessing that the swooshability of this thing is off the charts.

The Minifigs

You might be thinking that a set like this can’t get any better… but trust me, it can! We haven’t even zoomed in on the minifigs yet. This comes with 8 minifigs from the movie/book.

From left to right we have Chani, Liet Kynes, Leto Atreides, Gurney Halleck, Lady Jessica, Paul Atreides, Duncan Idaho, and Baron Harkonnen. All of these figures are spot on and I thought it was so cool what they did with Baron and making his robes super long. This all makes me really excited for Dune Part II because I loved the book!

This will be a definite purchase for me but what do you think? The price is a little bit of a downside but honestly, that’s the name of the game for LEGO. Is this something you’ll try to snag at some point? Do I just think it’s cool because I love the book and movie?
