New: Animal Crossing Sets Revealed
So we did get our first look at the new Animal Crossing sets that are coming out! I will be honest and say that I am a little torn on them. There are a couple that are pretty good but I just thought that they would maybe put a little bit more effort into them. Overall the feel kind of cluttered and loud and very simple. I should also point out that I am not sure what the actual demographic of Animal Crossing users is. Maybe these sets really hit the spot for the main demographics. Either way, I have the sets listed below and some things that I like and dislike about each one. Let me know what you think about these new sets!
Bunnie’s Outdoor Activities (77047)
So this is one of them that I think is alright. I like the little campsite that is reminiscent of the tent that you set up at the start of the game and a bunch of the tools that you use throughout your time on the island. They even through in a few bugs to catch which is a fun little element of the set. You have a little ladder leading up to the next level and a cute little waterfall. One thing that I noticed about the sets is each one has a different kind of tree just like you have a native species of tree on each island. This one grows cherries! This set includes one minifigure (Bunnie), retails for $19.99 and has 164 pieces.
Nook’s Cranny and Rosie’s House (77050)
So this one is my favorite one of the sets. It’s the classic Nook’s Cranny run by Tom Nook himself! It also comes with Rosie and her home which I think they did a great job on the outside of each of these buildings. This island has the native fruit of oranges and has some fun little elements like the drop box outside Nook’s, a cute light post, and a mailbox. My main complaint here is that I wish they had just put in more detail to Nook’s and focused the whole set around that. They could have also included Timmy and Tommy which would have been so so great. Still it is cool that you get both Nook’s and a house. This set comes with Tom Nook and Rosie, retails for $74.99 and has 535 pieces.
Isabelle’s House Visit (77049)
I really don’t hate this set either. It is one of the more detailed sets with some great items like the floating present, the tree stump, a work bench, and a little garden. You can explore Fauna’s house with Isabelle and hang out by the little pond that it comes with. The minifigs are great in this set and overall this is a better looking option when it comes to the Animal Crossing sets. It comes with the two minifigs mentioned, Isabelle and Fauna, retails for $39.99 and has 389 peices.
Julian’s Birthday Party (77046)
Okay… so this one… I hate this. I’m sorry but there is too much going on and this feels like the creator just through a ton of random stuff together to make a little birthday party. Like it is hard for me to really even find things I like with this set. The minifig is great. That would be it’s only saving grace in my opinion. I’m just not going to dwell on this one. It’s not really for me. Comes with Julian, retails for $14.99 and has 170 pieces.
Kapp’n’s Island Boat Tour (77048)
Last up we have a little bit of beach and fishing which is probably what I do the most in Animal Crossing. It’s a pretty good set with a cute little doc on the side and some fish to catch. It even has a cute little hermit crab which I actually really like. Kapp’n’s boat is pretty great and just adds a little more fun to the beach set. I wish there was more water instead of a couple of waves but the palm trees look great and I like that they have little coconuts in them. Nice little relaxing set up in the back with the chairs and the umberella. This set comes with Kapp’n and Marshal, retails for $29.99 and has 233 pieces
Conclussion
So overall not my favorite new series. I had really high hopes and I was a little bit let down with the quality of the sets. I wish they were more detailed and little less cluttered. I honestly think they could do a minifig series alone and it would do better than the sets they are releasing because people obsess over certain villagers. I won’t be picking up these sets but if you do, let me know how they are!
